Angela is the lost sister of Thor and Loki (the real history of how her character was originally created, how she belonged to another series, and how she traveled to the Marvel Universe are all very interesting so I recommend Wikipedia) and was raised in Heven to believe she was an angel. Angels live and survive off of the concept of favors- making them and fulfilling them. Nothing is "priceless" because one action means someone is owed something for it. At the birth of her younger sister, Angela steals the baby and goes on the run. Thor and Loki work to chase her down. So she must find help in the form of her friend Sera and old team, the Guardians of the Galaxy.

I often compare Thor comics to epic fantasy. It doesn't even feel like it's in space most of the time, and the new ones don't always feel like superhero comics. But, I really like that. Angela takes it a step further- she's no hero, for one- and this is much like a dark fantasy novel. Very grim and very dark but very good.

The only reason this didn't a full five stars is because I wanted it to center on Angela a bit more. I wanted to get into her head. For the most part, the story is narrated by Sera and we get to see things through her eyes or the eyes of an omniscient narrator. For the title character, Angela doesn't really have a strong and unique personality until the final issue. Don't let this stop you from reading, though, because while reading it's unnoticeable that she's a bit flat. You're just taken in by the story and given a long, but good, ride.

The art was glorious- and perfect for this story. It had some whimsical elements, especially during flashback scenes, and some eerie elements as well (Angela's eyes). The faces all looked rather realistic during some points, helping the creepy factor. It also maintained the dark aspect of the whole book. Overall, the art was fantastic in that it helped the story become even better. And it was beautiful on its own.

If you've found yourself enjoying Thor comics, particularly the new ones, you'll enjoy this. It's a step into the darker side of the mythos but you'll really enjoy it.

I really like it all,
The second and weakest book in what I'm calling the Angela Asgard trio. After the events of Original Sin Angela finds out that she is actually the daughter of Odin and Freya and sister to Thor. Despite having been raised by Heven to despise Asgardians, Angela is now considered one of them. Odin and Freya have now given birth to a new daughter, only for Angela to kidnap the infant. With Thor and the Asgardian army on her trail, Angela seeks aid from her best friend Sera and her pals in the Guardians of the Galaxy. Asgard's Assassin is the weakest book in this trio due to the fact that it depends so much on revelations in the final issue. For much of the book it is left intentionally unclear whether or not Angela is playing the role of hero as she attempts to free the Asgardian child from the influence of evil forces or whether she herself is the villain taking revenge on Asgard for Heven. Even the lovable Guardians are on the fence about their former compatriot for a lot of the book. All in all it helps paint a complex picture of Angela as a character and does a wonderful job of setting up the final arc for the character (Queen of Hel) but at the expense of a truly great story with this volume.
I really enjoy the character and the story that goes along with it. It was great to see them keeping to the character and I was a fan of the artwork.
i enjoyed the humor and the sometimes lyrical writing. the art could be epic at times,at others rather ugly. there were many twists and turns though sometimes it was hard to follow. overall very enjoyable
Angela Asgard's Assassin Volume one is a great trade to pick up if your looking for an interesting and truly diverse comic. This book focuses on mythological side of the Marvel universe and bring in the likes of Odinson (formerly known as Thor), Loki and even the Guardians of the Galaxy. Angela herself is a very strong character with a dedicated attitude. Her companion Sera is highly enjoyable while having a unique story of her own. I look forward to learning more about Angela and can't wait to see what her and her cohorts get up to!
Let me start with the good, then I will get to the "bad."

To start off the good, the volume is very well made; It feels nice in the hand, looks great, and is a standard width, so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb on a bookshelf. The paneling and composition are very well done, which blends well with the absolutely amazing artwork that takes no shortcuts and strives to impress with every page. Much of the text comes in the form of narration boxes, filled with the thoughts and feelings of the Main character Angela, and the narration boxes are tastefully placed and sized, allowing for the artwork to shine without too much interference from the text.
The Dialogue itself can be amusing at times, as the quirks of Angela and how she was raised allows for interesting interactions, although in a couple instances the humor tries too hard and comes off dry and unwieldy. Past that, the supporting and antagonizing are interesting, and stroung enough to make an enjoyable cast.

Thats all for the good, now for the "Bad." I say bad, but I mean it in a very situational way. I picked this volume up without having read the arc in which she first appears in the current marvel continuity, and was fairly confused at the beginning of this comic. They do a decent job of quickly filling in the reader of what happened previously, such as who Angela is to herself and to those around her, how she came to be who she is, and why she is doing what she is doing, but the reader would definitely benefit from reading "Original Sin Thor & Loki The Tenth Realm" which is the volume in which she is introduced in the current Marvel setting.
